Amazing smartphone
If you are looking for a non-apple smartphone, this is it.Primary function, being a phone, is outstanding. The phone has a good reception and you are able to have clear conversations even in noisy environments like games or construction sites.Additionally, it is full of features with out of the box google integration. The screen is amazing and very responsive. Gps, camera and wi-fi works as expected. The full qwerty slider keyboard works great, however keys are too flat. Form factor is adequate. The phone is slim and not so heavy.Despite of the bugs mentioned in several forums, I haven't found any. The piece I got came already with the Android 2.1 update and works straightforward.It deserve a "well done" for the engineers at Motorola.

Great phone
This thing cost way too much, but it is a great phone. Every thing works, the keyboard is nice (except the keys are a little too flat), the screen, the camera, everything works well.I Have had two problems though - First I bought this phone to use with T-mobile, but it doesn't operate at the frequency T-mobile uses for their 3G service. Second, after the last upgrade it has randomly started playing music. It is a known bug with some work-arounds, but it is very annoying.So, with all the new variants coming out, I'd say look for something newer on contract first. But if there is a price drop (as stock and demand drop) this is a very capable choice.

I have a limited amount of cargo space in my bag. I seriously do not want to waste money and real estate on 15 different gadgets.Criteria:PHONE. I want to be heard and to be able to hear. I have not had a call dropped or lost, but I have had a little issue with face dialing.GOOGLE VOICE: Transcribes all my voice mail and sends it to my phone. from the house phone, from the cell phone, all redirects to one location. Great Phone!
I've had this phone for a while now and it is FANTASTIC!I upgraded to it from a blackberry storm thinking it wouldn't be that different from one smart phone to another, but boy was I wrong!I love my Droid; there are SO many more wonderful apps available for it and it I love that it syncs everything with my gmail.I am NOT very good with phones (tend to beat up on them a lot) but I have NEVER had any problems with this one breaking or anything.

Great Platform, Stretched Hardware
I purchased this phone about a year ago and was initially ecstatic about the device's features as well as the intuitiveness of the Android platform itself. However, at the release of this device the Android platform was still growing and functioned in a much less advanced capacity than it currently does. Through several updates of core firmware, as well as various software updates to apps, the phone has become sluggish and often unresponsive.Long story short, the hardware hasn't kept up with the every-growing demands on the software front. The Android Marketplace offers a great breadth of content that is simply impractical to run on this outdated hardware. If you're looking to have a phone that keeps up with current technological trends, think twice before investing in this sucker.Also, battery life tends to become absolutely abysmal after the first 6-8 months or so, so definitely think about investing in some backup batteries.

Love it more than the iPhone
I've owned my Droid X since it came out, and I simply love it. I can't imagine having a different phone. I feel it surpasses the iPhone in a few ways. For one, it has a bigger and sharper screen. If you're planning to play games, watch movies or shows, this is the phone for you. It might not seem like it's "that much" bigger, but it is and it makes a difference. The screen is sharp enough that I watch Netflix and HBO shows on my phone all the time (did I mention the WiFi is strong enough on the phone for this to be possible?). Also, a lot of people think they simply must have their music on their iPods. Once I got this phone, I sold my old iTouch. Are iPods better at handling music then the Droid X? Yes. But is it a significant upgrade? No, not at all. The music quality is the exact same, so the only difference is the interface. Best decision I ever made
I purchased this phone 14 months ago, and still feel it was the best decision I could have made. I absolutely love the camera. The 8 megapixels means that I have clear, high quality pictures that I can use for digital scrapbooking, printing, and sharing with friends and family. I love that my video and still camera is always at my fingertips. In addition, I use this phone for hours every day to check email, text, play games, wake up in the morning, play music, listen to digital books, and find out how to get where I'm going. Oh, and sometimes I even make calls with it! It's pretty great for that too! I also like that the touch screen keyboard has good sized buttons. I rarely have typos, but have been known to have some auto-correct fails from time to time. The only thing I don't like about this phone is that I have to have two sets of music libraries, one on Amazon, and one on ITunes. Ah well, nothing is perfect.

Comparable to iphone
If you like small, pocket size portability, this is an excellent, economical substitute for a tablet or an iphone. It is loaded with top end features, hotspot capability, and if you check out the specs and online video reviews you will see this phone holds it's own for the price. It sure beats a samsung galaxy player 4.0 or 5.0 and has many features that most midrange tablets do not have for less that $200! The screen protectors are inexpensive, the onboard memory can be expanded from 8 gb to an additional 32 gb with a micro sd card. If you ever need prepaid cell & data service with no contract from the top network coverage in the nation, here you go. The body glove cell phone snap on case protectors are available online for discount prices also. This cell comes with a carrying case with a belt clip. Excellent multimedia device for the price!

Just OK because of several bugs
I've been using this phone for a year now, and I'm a bit disappointed because of several bugs that persist. Overall, the phone is nice, though it's a bit slow, just like an old computer trying to run Win7. Sometimes the phone is restarting by itself, sometimes I shut it down (in a plane for instance) and the phone just switches on by itself... There's also a persistent bug with the keyboard and front icons that are supposed to lighten up when you use the phone. Very often, they actually DON'T light up and it's a bit annoying, especially when using the phone in the dark. So you have to open and close the lid a few times until the keyboard and icons decide to lighten up. Otherwise, the phone is ok. Without these bugs, it would be great, plenty of useful stuff, and even more interesting if you have a Google account.

This multimedia device is truly one for the books. I believe it really rivals, if not tops off the Apple i Phone 3.0G s. It has amazing features and the size and screen quality are impeccable. Motorola Droid...not perfect, but a large step in the right direction
I had many friends that owned iPhones...but i hate AT&T as did most of my friends with iphones agree :) I purchased the A855 as soon as it was availible. I was trying to decide betweent the A855 and the HTC touch pro 2(I had the htc mogul XV6700 before). End of the day, i picked up the A855 for the android operation system. The android operating system is so easy to use. I was tired of having to constantly reset my mogul. The windows mobile phones are not as customizable unless you go through the process of unlocking the phone...which I did on my Mogul. I didn't buy this phone on amazon I bought it from the local verizon store. This is one of the best phone on earth! It run google android 2.0 which is open source so, this thing has endless possibilities! You can run multipliable apps at the same time, has a excellent GPS, 5 mp cam, a real keyboard and has around 10,000 - 20,000 apps so you will find something for you. I was even able to tether it for free(I didn't even need to root it!) Way better then the Iphone. The only phone I have seen that I though was better is the nexus one ;)No geek should be caught dead without one!
